Escondido Public Library Laptop Lab Homework Centers

$25,000 will support the purchase and installation of 12 laptop computers as well as homework assistance for Escondido youth
in grades K-12.
The Laptop Lab Homework Centers hope to promote academic success among students (grades K-12) who need access to computing capabilities by providing computers dedicated for homework and research at Escondido Public Libraries. Students in our community will benefit greatly from this pilot program to create homework centers in Escondido Public Library’s children’s and teen’s departments. Students will have additional computer resources urgently needed to accomplish homework assignments outside of school and home. Additionally, they will not have to compete with the constant demand for the library's public access computers used for all purposes. Additional assistance will be offered by a teacher during “Anytime School” and using “tutor.com” on the internet. This will enhance the students’ abilities to have quality time to do homework. With support from the Escondido Charitable Foundation, the Escondido Public Library will carry out its commitment as a community partner, dedicated to support and improve education and learning.
